for the first quarter ending 30 April 2025.
The owner of Anthropologie, Free People and Urban Outfitters saw total retail segment sales increase 6.4% in the three months, driven by mid single-digit growth across both store and digital sales.
By brand, comparable retail segment sales rose 6.9% at Anthropologie, 3.1% at Free People, and 2.1% at Urban Outfitters.
In the wholesale segment, sales surged 24.2%, supported by a 25.6% increase in Free People’s wholesale business, fuelled by "stronger demand" from specialty retailers and department stores.
During the quarter, the US-based company also expanded its own retail footprint with 13 new store openings, including nine Free People locations, two Anthropologie stores, and two Urban Outfitters stores. This was offset by the closure of two Free People stores.
Gross profit lifted 278 basis points compared to the three months ending 20 April 2024, with gross profit dollars increasing 19.8% to $489.1 million (£364 million) from $408.4 million (£304 million).
Richard A. Hayne, Chief Executive Officer at URBN, said: "We are excited to announce record first quarter revenues and profits.
"Our success was driven by positive sales growth and profitability across all brands and segments. We believe these results demonstrate the strength of our brands and the effectiveness of our strategy, giving us confidence in URBN’s continued success."
