UPND MAYORS REJECT HH’S CONSTITUTIONAL CLAUSE

Some UPND mayors have rejected the government’s proposed Constitutional amendment clause to re-integrate members of parliament into local authorities.
Last week, justice minister Princess Kasune presented 13 issues which President Hakainde Hichilema’s administration has proposed to amend in the forthcoming Constitution Amendment Bill of 2025.
Among the proposed amendments, Kasune said Article 153(2) should be amended in order to include members of parliament on the list of officials who constituted a council.
But in an interview with Daily Revelation yesterday, Chililabombwe mayor Lucky Sichone (UPND) said some proposed amendments needed wider consultations if they were to be effective.
He said he personally did not support the proposal to amend Article
