This bulletin applies to 2016-2020 Dodge Ram 1500, 2500, 3500 and 4500 vehicles equipped with electronic shift-on-the-fly.

The MIL may be accompanied by DTC C140E (transfer case motor blocked). The “Service 4WD” message may be displayed in the instrument panel. The transfer case shift fork tabs may be broken during range shift.

You may experience noisy/clunking/ratcheting transfer case range shifts and failure to complete transfer case range shifts. If the DTC is stored, follow normal diagnostics before updating the DTCM.

Reprogram the DTCM with the latest available software. This update will help reduce premature transfer case failure.
