UP's Boyd Jr., Tech's Diekhans earn Frontier hoops kudos
HELENA — The Frontier Conference men's basketball player of the week for offense is Antoine Boyd Jr. of Providence and the weekly winner for defense is Hayden Diekhans of Montana Tech.
The league announced the honors in a press release on Monday.
Boyd, Jr., a senior guard from St. Petersburg, Florida, averaged 25.5 points per game as the Argos went 2-0 for the week. He scored 28 points on his 10-of-19 field goals, 3-of-4 3-pointers, and 5-of-6 free throws in UP’s 79-74 win at No. 19 Rocky Mountain College.
He followed up with 23 points (8-of-11 field goals, 3-of-3 3-pointers, and 4-of-4 free throws) to fuel UP to an 81-74 victory over Carroll.
Boyd, Jr. shot 18-of-30 overall from the field (60%) for the week. He totaled 51 points. He also averaged 3.0 assists per game.
Diekhans, a junior forward from Geraldine, pulled down 12 defensive rebounds (6.0 defensive rebounds per game) for No. 11 Montana Tech. He also accounted for three steals and two blocks for the week.
