Multiple University of Northern Colorado baseball players have been honored over the last few weeks for their work in the classroom and play on the field during the 2025 season.

Six different UNC players earned academic honors and two of those players — Jake Storey and Brandon Sanchez — were honored twice since the beginning of the June. Four guys were named to All-Summit League teams with two on the second team and two honorable mentions.

UNC finished its season in mid-May with a 9-21 record in the Summit League and 18-33 overall.

Storey, a junior pitcher from Frisco, Texas, and Sanchez, a sophomore infielder from Broomfield, both business administration majors, were named to the 2025 Summit League All-Academic Team, the league announced June 16. Storey has a 3.98 GPA. Sanchez has a 3.93 average. Senior Wilbur Berrios was also named to the league all-academic team. He’s a criminology and criminal justice major with a 3.82 GPA.

To be eligible for all-league honors, athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30, complete one full academic year at their current schools and participate in at least 50% of their team’s games or 20% for pitchers. They were selected based on a vote by league sports information directors and faculty athletic representatives.

In early June, Sanchez, Storey, Trevor Landen, Kai Wagner and Tony Castonguay were named to the NCAA Division I Academic All-District Team by College Sports Communicators.

The CSC academic program honors student athletes who show high achievement in academics and athletes, according to a news release from UNC. Nominees must maintain a cumulative 3.50 or higher GPA and meet rigorous competition and eligibility requirements.
