Uhuru Kenyatta Urges African Youth to Take Charge of Their Future

Former Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta has urged the youth of Africa to take charge and work towards liberating the continent. Speaking at Makerere University on Thursday, April 24, 2025, Kenyatta emphasized that no external forces would come to Africa's rescue, highlighting the need for the younger generation, particularly Millennials and Gen Z, to rise up and drive change.

Kenyatta noted that the youth constitute a significant portion of the African population, giving them a strategic advantage in transforming the continent and ensuring good governance. He encouraged them to leverage their numbers to champion reforms and build a better society, not just in Kenya but across the entire African continent.

“No one is coming to save us, and as the world turns increasingly inward, the places to seek refuge are rapidly disappearing,” Kenyatta stated, urging the youth to embrace their role as the freedom fighters of this era. He reiterated that the responsibility to shape a better future for Africa lies firmly in the hands of its young people.
