UGBS Alumnus COP Christian Tetteh Yohuno Appointed Inspector-General of Police

The University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) proudly celebrates the appointment of its distinguished alumnus, Commissioner of Police (COP) Christian Tetteh Yohuno, as the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) of Ghana. President John Dramani Mahama announced his appointment on 13th March 2025, with an official swearing-in on Friday, 14th March 2025.

 COP Yohuno holds a Bachelor of Science in Administration (Human Resources Management) and an Executive MBA in Project Management, both from UGBS. These qualifications have equipped him with the strategic and operational acumen essential for high-level public service. He has also built an illustrious career in law enforcement, demonstrating exceptional leadership and expertise in security management. 

COP Yohuno previously served as Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIGP) and brings over 40 years of experience in law enforcement. Since joining the Ghana Police Service in 1985 as a recruit, he has risen through the ranks, holding key positions such as Director-General of Operations, Director-General of the Police Intelligence Directorate, and Regional Commander for Greater Accra. As Director-General of the Police Intelligence Directorate, he developed a robust intelligence framework that helped resolve high-profile cases, including the Kwabenya Police Station attack and the murder of a Lebanese national in Tema. Additionally, his tenure as Director-General of Operations saw him oversee security planning for critical national events, including the 2016 General Elections and ECOWAS summits. 

Beyond Ghana, COP Yohuno has contributed to global security by participating in United Nations peacekeeping missions in Bosnia, Herzegovina and East Timor. His exemplary service has earned him numerous accolades, including the State Honour of Grand Medal in 2011 for his role in combating armed robbery.
