Twinkle Khanna Reacts To Mawra Hocane Being Removed From Sanam Teri Kasam Poster: 'Teach Pakistanis A Lesson' - Entertainment

Published 1 day ago3 minute read

Former Bollywood actress-turned-author Twinkle Khanna never shies away from calling a spade a spade and expressing her opinions on the ongoing matters in the country as well as the entertainment industry. She recently wrote a column for The Times Of India and shared her take on the removal of Pakistani actors from the posters of their Bollywood films, amid the ongoing India-Pakistan conflict. In her witty fashion, she even shared a technique on how the nation can “teach” the Pakistanis a “lesson”.

The 51-year-old author recalled how she had been listening to the songs from Harshvardhan Rane and Mawra Hocane starrer Sanam Teri Kasam on repeat, ever since it had re-released and did an exceptional business at the box office. However, while browsing through Spotify, she realised that the Pakistani actress had been edited out of the poster. Upon digging up further she realised that other Pakistani actors like Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan have also been edited out of their films’ posters.

Quoted by the Hindustan Times, Khanna added, “Not wanting to be left behind in doing my duty as a good citizen, I propose that we get all of Abida Parveen and Farida Khanum’s songs redubbed by our very own Dhinchak Pooja. That will really teach the Pakistanis a lesson.”

For those who don’t know, earlier in the month, screenshots of Mahira, Fawad, and Mawra being missing from the posters of Raees, Kapoor & Sons, and Sanam Teri Kasam on many music streaming platforms had gone viral on all social media platforms. This happened after their remarks against India’s Operation Sindoor, which was rejoiced by the Indian netizens.

Not only this, but the Instagram accounts of Pakistani celebrities, including Hania Aamir, Fawad Khan, Mawra Hocane, Atif Aslam, Ali Zafar, Sanam Saeed, Bilal Abbas, Iqra Aziz, Imran Abbas, Sajal Aly, and Mahira Khan, were banned in India after the Pahalgam attack.

Talking about Operation Sindoor, during the wee hours of Wednesday, the Indian Armed Forces launched Operation Sindoor, a retaliation for the Pahalgam attack. They targeted and struck the terror launch pads in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) to avenge the Pahalgam terrorist attack on April 22. The attack had killed more than 26 people and left many others injured. Post the operation, however, Pakistan tried to attack India again, but the Indian army gave a proper answer to the attacks. Soon, a ceasefire between to two rival countries was announced.
