Beginning Sunday, March 16, “Yellowstone” Season 5 Part 2 will begin streaming exclusively on Peacock, making all then entire series available to stream on Peacock.

Despite being a Paramount Network show, “Yellowstone” has a streaming deal with Peacock, which was established prior to the creation of Paramount+.

Lorne Michaels Isn’t Ready to Leave ‘Saturday Night Live’ Quite Yet: ‘I Don’t Feel I’m Done’

Image

As much as an institution as “Saturday Night Live” may be, perhaps even more totemic is its creator and longtime executive producer — Canada’s favorite son — Lorne Michaels. The show’s 50th Anniversary special airs on NBC and streams via Peacock this Sunday, February 16 and features talent such as Sabrina Carpenter, Tom Hanks, Eddie Murphy, Tina Fey, Ayo Edebiri, Pedro Pascal, John Mulaney, and many many more. But in the build up, countless pieces have been written about Michaels’ impact on not only the series, but the entire comedy world over the last half century.

At the same time, much has also been discussed in regards to when Michaels (80) will step away, and who will take over as the head honcho of “SNL?” However, in a recent interview with The New York Times, Michaels made clear that no succession plan will be set in motion anytime soon.

“I may be wrong,...

How Streaming Viewership Is Measured in This ‘Chaotic’ Era for TV Data

Image

Until a decade or so ago, TV viewership stats were easily accessible through Nielsen ratings, and the only trick was knowing the difference between a ratings point and a share. But in the streaming era, TV viewership has become a guessing game. Many streaming platforms don’t share in-depth viewership data with the public, leaving it to companies like Nielsen, Luminate, and Parrot Analytics to estimate audience sizes for streaming TV series — for a cost. And even then, streaming numbers for a given program can differ from one analysis to another. “It is more chaotic than it’s ever been,” George Ivie, chief executive of the measurement watchdog Media Rating Council, told The New York Times recently. Netflix introduced its Top 10 lineup in February 2020, but that feature is only a ranking with no viewership numbers to be seen. The streamer took another step toward ratings transparency in December 2023, when it...

History Channel’s ‘Thomas Jefferson’ Docuseries Explores Paradoxical Elements of Third President

Image

When we think of Thomas Jefferson, our third president, many would cite his penning of the Declaration of Independence’s iconic phrases promising a country in which “all men are created equal” with “unalienable rights” to enjoy “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.” Then, of course, there’s his image on the nickel and his likeness on Mount Rushmore, a spot he won both for that seminal document announcing the 13 colonies split from England and his 1803 Louisiana Purchase, during his first Presidency, which doubled the size of the U.S. Some may also point out that he was a politician who railed against the evils of slavery in print, while keeping hundreds of slaves on his plantation and having many children with his late wife’s Martha’s enslaved half-sister Sally Hemings. The paradoxical elements of the lifelong idealist are explored on the History Channel’s six-hour docuseries tracking...

‘Wheel of Fortune’ Fans Slam Bonus Round Answer: ‘That’s Not a Phrase’

Image

Another Wheel of Fortune bonus round, another controversial result. Fans of the game show are calling out the final puzzle from Wheel’s February 14 episode. It was Conner Kemmsies, a commercial pilot from Lakeside, California, who got to the bonus round after winning the prize puzzle and the triple toss-up and earning $19,080 in cash and prizes — including a six-day whale-watching cruise to Baja, California, with National Geographic–Lindblad Expeditions. As Conner’s “beautiful family” and “smoking hot wife” watched on, he took on the episode’s ultimate challenge. The category for the bonus round was Phrase, and after filling in the gimme letters — R, S, T, L, N, and E — and Conner’s selections — C, M, D, and A — the puzzle board read: _ D _ D M _ _ _ M E _ _ R _. Conner got the first part — I Did My — but couldn’t think of the last word. The answer, it turns out,...

How ‘Saturday Night Live’ Went from Mocking Politics to Shaping It in the Span of 50 Years

Image

We’re celebrating 50 years of “Saturday Night Live“! All this week, we’re digging into the late-night comedy institution with new stories, including lists, essays, interviews, and more.

There’s an old adage that “context is everything” and while it may not apply to all situations, it certainly rings true when it comes to politics and comedy. Both arenas are designed around performers, sometimes made to look the fool and other times a noble voice of the people, but where one lands always depends on the moment in which a joke or plea is delivered.

This is a fact “Saturday Night Live” has understood well since its inception, with Chevy Chase debuting his impression of then-President Gerald Ford during the show’s first few weeks on air. Chase would appear a few times as Ford in the month after the show’s premiere, but it was during the Christmas episode the character really took form.

Tim Gunn Not Returning for ‘Project Runway’ Revival — Fans React

You won’t see Tim Gunn telling fashion designers to “make it work” on Freeform’s upcoming Project Runway revival. Gunn, who long served as mentor to the show’s contestants, revealed he wasn’t invited to join returning host Heidi Klum in Runway’s new iteration. In an interview with People about the snub, Gunn said he expressed interest with “not a moment of hesitation” when Klum texted him with word of the revival. “So Heidi and I were texting and texting, and several months later, she sent me a text asking, ‘Are you happy with your contract?’” he recalled. “I’m a truth-teller. I don’t even mince words. I said, ‘Well, I haven’t seen a contract.’” Gunn’s agent then contacted the executive producers of Freeform’s Project Runway. “They said, ‘We don’t want him,’” Gunn said. “And [my agent] said, ‘Well, he’s done 19 seasons of Runway,...

With Lucy Chen now a training officer, Melissa O’Neil has learned something new about her character this year on The Rookie. “I have always felt that Lucy was a person who, perpetually, to a fault, gave people the benefit of the doubt and was always giving them chance after chance after chance,” O’Neil tells TV Insider as part of our Booked: The Rookie Aftershow. That’s not the case with her rookie, Seth (Patrick Keleher), whom she has caught in lies about his girlfriends. While she thinks that stems from how she feels about her younger brother, O’Neil admits that she was surprised by how suspicious Lucy has been of Seth (she does some investigating when things don’t add up). “I feel like she might believe him to a fault. I feel like that might be her fallibility as far as being a training officer, but I...

Colter Shaw Goes on the Road Every Episode of ‘Tracker’ — Which Means Finding a Lot of Vancouver Locations

Image

True to its title, “Tracker” puts its bounty hunter in a wide variety of locations in every new episode of the CBS procedural as Justin Hartley’s survivalist Colter searches for missing people. That means plenty of opportunity for new guest stars and fresh drama — and brand-new locations that encompass all the terrain one wants to see a survivalist tackle. But that presents its own challenge for a weekly network series that films in Vancouver.

”We usually get a [script] outline about two or three weeks out,” location manager David Tamkin told IndieWire. “The outline will tell us, ‘Hey, this next episode is in New York and we need a high-rise tower or something.’ So we can start the process, but when the script actually lands, that’s when we get into the specifics of the requirements.”

That can range from high-rise apartment buildings to waterfalls, a big range that requires...

‘Who Wants to Marry a Multi-Millionaire?’ 25 Years Later: What Happened to the Not-So-Happy Couple?

Image

After the smash-hit success of ABC’s Who Wants to Be a Millionaire the year before, Fox raised the ante on February 15, 2000, with a live special titled Who Wants to Marry a Multi-Millionaire? Mike Darnell, Fox’s head of reality programming at the time, told Entertainment Weekly in 2024 that he thought of the idea while attending a family wedding and feeling jealous of the ABC game show’s success. “I’m very competitive, so it’s making me crazy. I am literally thinking to myself, ‘What else do people want? They want to be millionaires.’ And I’m watching the wedding, and I’m thinking about the show, and I’m watching the wedding, and I’m like, ‘Who wants to marry a millionaire!’ And then I had to one-up it, so I called it Who Wants to Marry a Multi-Millionaire?” In the resulting two-hour special, 50 women competed to win...

Bill Maher Talks Trump Administration’s ‘Ridiculous and Horrible’ Layoffs

This is their method.” He went on: “America is in shock that the guy whose catchphrase was ‘You’re fired’ is firing everybody in government. ‘He wants to suck our blood? ‘Gold Rush’: Rick Ness Takes Massive Gamble in Last Ditch Effort to Hit Season Goal

Image

Warning: The below contains spoilers for Gold Rush Season 15, Episode 15.] Time has been ticking closer toward the end of the season, which meant the Gold Rush mine bosses had to make some big moves to get to their goals. Parker Schnabel has only banked less than 3,000 ounces into his 10,000-once target. To speed up the process, he decided to purchase a mining company for $2.5 million, which included the Sulphur Creek claim that had ground ready to sluice. Over at Indian Creek, Tony Beets started out strong. However, operations have stalled out due to frozen ground. This left him with only the wash plant Trommel sluicing for gold at Paradise Hill. With gold prices high, he wanted to do all he could to take advantage of that. During the February 14 episode, it seemed that this laser-focus eye on the prize means the children take a backseat. At least that’s how daughter Monica felt.
