Transport Workers Union announces Nicholas Ogolla as acting Secretary General
The Transport Workers Union Kenya has announced a significant leadership transition following internal organizational changes within the union structure.
In an official communication dated May 28, 2025, and addressed to the Secretary General of the Central Organisation of Trade Unions (COTU) in Nairobi, the union informed stakeholders of personnel changes in its top leadership.
According to the letter, Dan Mihadi has been suspended from his position as General Secretary. The union stated that the suspension was implemented following an internal union mechanism and by the union constitution.
The organization has appointed Nicholas Ogolla as the new acting General Secretary to fill the leadership vacuum.
“He brings a wealth of experience in labor representation, organizational leadership, and advocacy for workers' rights," noted the union leadership.
“The transition has been carried out in accordance with the Union's constitution and by-laws and has the full endorsement of the Central Council organ of the Union and the Registrar of Trade Unions Kenya," the union added.
It urged members to support the new leadership structure.
