1 dead, 4 injured as wedding car overturns in UP

VARANASI: At least one person died, and four others were seriously injured when a car carrying a wedding party overturned into a ditch near Jamdih village in the Ghosi police station area of Mau district on Friday morning.According to reports, the group travelled from Bansgaon in Gorakhpur district to Khirikotha in the Madhuban police station area on Thursday evening. After the wedding festivities concluded overnight, the guests were returning to their respective places. One of the cars, was heading towards the Gorakhpur-Varanasi four-lane road via the Madhuban-Ghosi route.Around 6.30am, as the car approached Jamdih village, the driver suddenly dozed off.

The car collided with the railing of a small bridge and overturned into a ditch. Chandramol Tripathi alias Deepu (38), from Bansgaon, died on the spot. Meanwhile, Kishan Pandey (30) from Pandey Tighra in the Bansgaon police station area, Sandeep Prajapati (30), Madan Tiwari (18) from Bhiti, and his brother Bishu Tiwari (19) were seriously injured.Upon receiving information from the villagers, the police arrived and sent all the injured to the community health centre by ambulance. Seeing the critical condition of the four, the doctor referred them to the district hospital after initial treatment. The police took possession of the body.The Ghosi SO Manoj Kumar Singh said that the team arrived at the scene after getting information. The injured were sent to the hospital, and the body was sent for postmortem. The cause of the incident is being investigated.
