Traditional Ruler Suspended Over Kidnapping in Edo Community

Gov. Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has suspended the Okumagbe of Uwano Kingdom, Dr. George Egabor, who presides over Agenebode in the Etsako East Local Government Area. The suspension, which is indefinite, stems from concerns regarding incessant kidnapping and killings within the Okumagbe's domain.

The announcement was conveyed through a statement issued by the chief press secretary to Gov. Okpebholo. Furthermore, Peter Omiogbemhi, the secretary to the suspended traditional ruler, has been apprehended by relevant authorities in connection with a recent incident that resulted in the death of a palace chief, John Ikhamate.

This action by the Edo State government occurs amidst a backdrop of increasing attacks across the nation. A recent incident on March 16th saw sixteen hunters traveling from Port Harcourt attacked and killed, prompting President Bola Tinubu to order a swift investigation and demand justice. In response to that particular incident, the Edo police command reported the arrest of fourteen suspects.
