Tinubu's Easter Message: Hope, Security, and Military Action

President Bola Tinubu has extended his Easter greetings to Christians in Nigeria and across the world, joining them in commemorating the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ, a cornerstone of Christian faith. In his message, the President emphasized the significance of the Holy Week, spanning from Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday, as a period for deep reflection on enduring values such as sacrifice, redemption, love, and hope.

Tinubu, drawing inspiration from the timeless message of hope and renewal, reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to delivering a Renewed Hope agenda, promising a better, more just, and prosperous Nigeria for all its citizens. He acknowledged the recent tragic incidents and loss of lives in various parts of the country, expressing his understanding of the pain and fear caused by these events. The President assured Nigerians of his administration's firm resolve to restore peace and security, declaring that forces of evil will never prevail.

Directives have been issued to the Armed Forces and security agencies to decisively end insecurity without delay. Tinubu expressed confidence in the courage and commitment of the nation's security personnel, stating that progress is being made in reclaiming peace and stability. He also expressed gratitude to Nigerians for their patience and resilience as the economy shows encouraging signs of recovery.

The President acknowledged the economic challenges faced by many Nigerians and highlighted ongoing efforts to restore investor confidence, stabilize key sectors, and build an inclusive economy that benefits all. He joined the global Christian community in expressing gratitude for Pope Francis’s recovery, praying for his continued strength to inspire leadership and service to humanity.

President Tinubu expressed his hope that the spirit of Easter would fill every heart and home with renewed faith in the immense possibilities ahead for the nation. Drawing a parallel between Christ’s triumph over death and Nigeria's ability to overcome its challenges, he urged Nigerians to remain hopeful, united, and resolute in pursuing national progress. He emphasized that unity and resilience are the nation's greatest strengths and sought blessings of peace and prosperity for all Nigerian homes.

Echoing the President's sentiments, other prominent figures and leaders across Nigeria have also issued Easter messages, reinforcing the themes of peace, unity, and national cohesion. Former President Goodluck Jonathan urged Christians and all Nigerians to draw strength from Christ's love and sacrifice, while governors such as Dikko Radda of Katsina, Mohammed Bago of Niger, and Bala Mohammed of Bauchi called on citizens to embrace harmony and national unity.

FCT Minister Nyesom Wike also called for peaceful coexistence and mutual respect in the nation’s capital. These leaders emphasized the importance of embodying virtues such as compassion, sacrifice, and forgiveness, which are central to the Christian faith and essential for societal harmony and development.

Various initiatives promoting responsible behavior during the Easter season were also highlighted. Pernod Ricard Nigeria, in collaboration with the FRSC, NDLEA, and NURTW, conducted an enlightenment campaign on road safety, emphasizing the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol. This initiative underscores the importance of shared responsibility in ensuring safer roads and promoting responsible choices during festive periods.
