Easter Message from the Federal Executive Council

In the spirit of Easter, the Federal Executive Council (FEC) has extended warm greetings to Christians throughout Nigeria, urging all citizens to embrace the core values of love, peace, and selflessness that Jesus Christ exemplified. This sentiment was conveyed in a statement released by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), with Senator George Akume expressing congratulations on behalf of the FEC for the Easter commemoration. He characterized the season as a "solemn occasion" that underscores Christ's sacrificial love for humanity.
According to Segun Imohiosen, Director of Information and Public Relations at the OSGF, the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ symbolize hope, salvation, and liberation. Senator Akume encouraged Christians to reflect these virtues in their daily lives. He emphasized the importance of Jesus Christ's life and teachings, particularly the message of love, forbearance, selflessness, and forgiveness, as a guiding light for all Nigerians.
Furthermore, Senator Akume called upon Nigerians to pray for the nation's peace and unity, urging citizens to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda, which he views as a pathway to building a more prosperous and inclusive nation. He added, "Let this season of reflection and renewal inspire us to work together in unity and faith for the betterment of our country."
Echoing these sentiments, former Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, highlighted Good Friday as an opportunity for reflection on the lessons of love, compassion, and sacrifice demonstrated by Jesus Christ on the cross. Obaseki stressed the significance of unity in love, drawing strength from shared experiences and unwavering faith in democratic ideals, especially when facing challenging times. He urged everyone to rise above personal interests in pursuit of the greater good.
Obaseki encouraged all to seek God's guidance, support one another, extend love to neighbors and the less privileged, and work towards a peaceful and progressive nation. The FEC also joined in wishing the Christian faithful a blessed Good Friday and a happy Easter celebration, reinforcing the message of hope and renewal.
