Thursday Big Ten Basketball Preview: Maryland at Nebraska

Published 1 month ago1 minute read

It’s once again gotten interesting at the top of the Big Ten.

But that’s a discussion for another blog. Thursday’s lone game is between two teams who don’t have a realistic shot at the league title, but each still has something to play for with March creeping ever closer.

Maryland heads west pretty firmly within the field of 68. The Terps are having a solid bounce-back season in year three under Kevin Willard.

The stakes for the Terps are pretty simple: a win bolsters their resume while a loss, while not great, doesn’t do all that much. Maryland is playing for seeding at this point and should take as many wins as it can get.

Nebraska is a different story.

The Huskers were in a full-on spiral not long ago that they’ve answered with a four-game winning streak over the likes of Illinois, Oregon, Washington and Ohio State. They need a bit more here late but they’re slowly gaining ground toward the field.

Nebraska has been pretty good at home too.
