Thunderstorms likely at few places in state | Kochi News - The Times of India
Kochi: IMD has issued a warning for thunderstorms with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places in Kerala on Tuesday. A trough in the westerlies runs from north interior Karnataka to the Gulf of Mannar across Tamil Nadu at 0.9 km above mean sea level. The trough in the easterlies from the Gulf of Mannar to south interior Karnataka across interior Tamil Nadu at 0.9 km above mean sea level became less marked.
According to the 24-hour rainfall recorded on Monday morning, Ottappalam recorded the highest rainfall of 7 cm in the state. Cheruvanchery in Kannur recorded 6 cm, while Kozhikode got 5 cm of rainfall. Perumbavoor, Pattambi, and Mannarkkad recorded 3 cm each.
Even as it rained in some places in Palakkad, high temperatures of 36 degree Celsius were recorded in the district on Monday. Punalur also recorded 36 degrees, while Kozhikode, Thiruvananthapuram, and Kottayam recorded 35 degrees.
A high UV index was recorded in many places in the state in the last 24 hours. Konni and Munnar recorded a UV index of 11 and 12, respectively, while Kodakara and Changanassery saw a UV index of 10. Several places, including Vilappilshala, Chengannur, Kalamassery, and Beypore, recorded a UV index of 7, and Ollur and Mananthavady recorded a UV index of 6.
