Ranchi: The Ranchi office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday issued yellow alert for thunderstorms and lightning accompanied by gusty winds across districts from Thursday to Sunday.The met department issued a yellow alert for thunderstorms in 15 districts of the eastern region of the state, including Ranchi, Khunti, Ramgarh, Bokaro, Dhanbad, and Giridih, from Thursday to Friday.
It issued yellow alerts for thunderstorms and gusty winds in 20 districts, barring the north-western parts of the state, from Friday to Sunday.Light to moderate rain is likely across the state from Thursday to Sunday. Many areas experienced rainfall on Tuesday. Jamshedpur recorded 23.1mm rainfall, Manoharpur 13mm, Maheshpur 8mm, Anandpur 7.2mm, Majhgaon 6.2mm, and Tatanagar 3.5mm rainfall.The head of Ranchi unit of the IMD, Abhishek Anand, said, "Rain and thunderstoms likely to take place due to the incursion of moisture-laden winds from the Bay of Bengal."At 42.4°C, Daltonganj recorded the highest maximum temperature in the state on Wednesday, followed by 40°C in Chaibasa, 39.5°C in Bokaro and Jamshedpur, and 37.8°C in Ranchi. The IMD, in its weather bulletin, said there will be no significant change in maximum temperatures across the state over the next two days. However, the maximum temperature is likely to drop by 2-3°C thereafter.
