IMD issues yellow alert for all dists in state till Sunday

Ranchi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday issued a yellow alert for thunderstorms and wind activities across all the districts of Jharkhand from Thursday to Sunday.The met department said that thunderstorms and lightning accompanied by gusty winds, speeding up to 40-50 kmph, is likely to occur in isolated places across the state, from Thursday to Sunday. "Along with this, heavy rainfall is likely to occur in isolated places over north-eastern and south-eastern parts of the state," the bulletin added. The IMD, in its Wednesday weather bulletin, further said there would be no significant change in maximum temperatures across the state in the next three days.

However, the maximum temperature is likely to drop by 3-5 °C thereafter.Ranchi IMD head Abhishek Anand said, "Due to the formation of a well-marked low pressure area over north-west Bay of Bengal off Odisha coast, Kolhan and Santhal regions of Jharkhand is likely to experience heavy rainfall on Thursday, while the rest are likely to receive light shower. Due to the synoptic feature, a change in the weather will be observed in the state in the coming three days, along with light to moderate rainfall and thunderstorm activities in many places.

"Several parts of the state experienced rain on Wednesday, with Chaibasa recording the highest rainfall of 14 mm. While Ranchi recorded 1.2 mm and Jamshedpur 0.6 mm, Latehar recorded 4 mm, Lohardaga 1 mm, Saraikela 12.5 mm, and Simdega 1.5 mm of rainfall.On Wednesday, Ranchi recorded a maximum temperature of 31.7 °C, Jamshedpur 35.3 °C, Daltonganj 36.4 °C, Bokaro 35.1 °C, and Chaibasa recorded 34.6 °C.
