Thunderstorm strikes Vidarbha districts, Akola remains hottest

Nagpur: A sudden drift of cumulonimbus (Cb) clouds over the Vidarbha region from the south of Madhya Pradesh, triggered by an upper air cyclonic circulation, brought relief to Bhandara, Gondia, and Gadchiroli on Wednesday. Thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds and light rainfall lashed the three districts, as well as isolated places in Nagpur districts, late in the evening.
The change in weather caused a welcome dip in maximum temperature, with the mercury going below the 40-degree mark in Bhandara, Gondia, and Gadchiroli. Akola continued to sizzle at 43.4 degrees Celsius, being the hottest place in Vidarbha once again.
A yellow alert for thunderstorms has again been issued by the met department for Bhandara, Gondia, Chandrapur, and Gadchiroli. Nagpur experienced hot weather as the temperature touched 40.2 degrees Celsius. Although the cloudy weather in the city areas brought some relief, there was high humidity in the evening. The temperature is likely to rise after the storm wanes.
