DHARMAPURI: Three women died in an explosion at a firecracker storage facility at Kambainallur in Dharmapuri district of Tamil Nadu on Monday.
The deceased have been identified as V Tirumalar, 38, M Shenbagam, 35, and T Manju, 33. All of them were residents of Boomisamudram village.
Dharmapuri district collector R Sadheesh, who visited the scene, said the blast happened around 2pm. The reason for the blast was yet to be ascertained.
Dharmapuri SP S S Maheswaran and other police officers arrived at the site and began investigations. A case has been registered.
Chief minister M K Stalin announced a compensation of Rs 4 lakh each for the kin of the deceased.
