Robert Eggers () wrote and directed this celebrated screen rendering for Focus Features. He also worked as a producer on the project.
With the help of casting director Kharmel Cochrane (), Eggers has assembled a top-notch cast of familiar faces. The lineup features Nicholas Hoult, Lily-Rose Depp, Bill Skarsgård, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Emma Corrin, and Willem Dafoe. Not too shabby.

As successful as the film ultimately was, getting it made wasn’t always an easy or straightforward process. The reimagining was announced in 2015 but it took years to get this remake off the ground. Most critics agree, however, that the wait was worth it. That much is evident by the picture’s certified fresh status on Rotten Tomatoes. The flick presently holds an impressive approval rating of 84% on the platform. Not to mention, the user rating is a respectable 72%.

Plagued by horrific visions and an increasing sense of dread, Ellen soon encounters an evil force that’s far beyond her control.
