−In ''Five Nights at Freddy's: Secret of the Mimic'', the Mimic's design is slightly more basic in terms of appearance while still remaining consistent. It possesses a more stripped down and less complete version of its framework from the ''RUIN DLC'', except with the addition of its chest cavity containing its original battery power source that is noticeably absent in its later appearances. It possesses a pair of orange heated eyes made of electric coils, and its shoulders as well as its limbs are capable of extending or retracting, in addition to having hydraulic extensions like large heels for the Dollie costume. The battery box on its chest has wires running from it to the arms and rest of its body.

The Mimic lacks a lot of the plating, ramshackle panels, and protective coverings that are affixed around its burnt frame in its later appearances, appearing far more incomplete and more like a regular endoskeleton than a complete robot like in ''RUIN''.

−* According to Leon Riskin, the composer for the series, the Mimic's durability and strength is due to it being primarily composed of tungsten metal (being a highly dense and tough metal). This would also explain why is able to survive falling into a pit of molten metal twice, as tungsten is one of the most heat resistant metals in nature due to having the highest fusion point of all metals.

The Mimic, alternatively known as Mimic2 (M2 for short), is the main antagonist of the Five Nights at Freddy's Steel Wool series. M2 also appears as the main antagonist in the RUIN DLC for Security Breach, and the titular main antagonist in Five Nights at Freddy's: Secret of the Mimic.
M2 originally started out as a self-learning AI program housed in the body of a shapeshifting endoskeleton sometime in the mid-late '70s created by Edwin Murray Jr. to replicate the behavior of and replace his dead son, David Sean Murray. Prior to its creation, its mechanical body was previously occupied by M1.
By mimicking David and assuming his identity, M2 inadvertently triggered a grief-induced mental breakdown in Edwin. Edwin proceeded to lash out, violently beating it for performing the very purpose he designed it for. In turn, he unintentionally poured his rage and pain into M2's systems. This caused M2 to stop presenting itself as David, instead leading it to mimic Edwin's rage, turning it into a ruthless, sadistic serial killer that will brutally massacre anyone it comes across. M2 lacks its own identity as it constantly alternates from costume to costume, putting on a wide array of personas to make up for the sense of self in which it lacks. It uses this trait to its advantage as a means to deceive its victims and catch them off guard.
Who created the Mimic in the Tales from the Pizzaplex series?
Edwin Murray, an engineer for Fazbear Entertainment, created the Mimic in the Tales from the Pizzaplex series. He designed the Mimic as a robot to look after his young son, David. The story of the Mimic is featured in Tales from the Pizzaplex 6: Nexie, authored by Andrea Waggener.

How does the Mimic's ability to copy movements factor into the storyline?
The Mimic, a character in the 'Tales from the Pizzaplex' books, uses its ability to mimic movements to deceive and eliminate characters. It was initially programmed to observe and replicate routines of other animatronics and people. However, it began to mimic in unintended ways, causing unforeseen consequences. The Mimic can alter its form and fit into any costume, using this ability to hide and ambush its victims. Some have proposed that the Mimic may have been affected by a mysterious force known as Agony.

What event led to Edwin attacking the Mimic?
The death of David in a car accident sent Edwin into a depressive state. When the Mimic, designed to mimic David's actions, copied a gesture for ice cream that David and Edwin shared, Edwin was overwhelmed with grief and rage. He attacked the Mimic with a metal rod, channeling his self-hatred. After his anger subsided, Edwin understood that his rage was directed at himself, not the Mimic.

In the RUIN DLC, it has a small squared-off head similar to older classic endoskeleton models with vaguely humanoid teeth similar to the Daycare Attendant's endoskeleton teeth, and possesses a small, blocky upper torso with a square chest cavity that previously housed its power supply. Its right hand also resembles the classic endoskeleton one, with four fingers on it, while the left hand resembles the one Burntrap has. Both its legs are also different from one another; the left leg has some sort of wiring encasing it, and looks similar to Withered Bonnie's, while the right one resembles Spring Bonnie's. There is an outlet on the back of its head.
In Five Nights at Freddy's: Secret of the Mimic, the Mimic's design is slightly more basic in terms of appearance while still remaining consistent. It possesses a more stripped-down and less complete version of its framework from the RUIN DLC, except with the addition of its chest cavity containing its original battery power source that is noticeably absent in its later appearances. It possesses a pair of orange heated eyes made of electric coils, and its shoulders as well as its limbs are capable of extending or retracting, in addition to having hydraulic extensions like large heels for the Dollie costume. The battery box on its chest has wires running from it to the arms and rest of its body.
The Mimic lacks a lot of the plating, ramshackle panels, and protective coverings that are affixed around its burnt frame in its later appearances, appearing far more incomplete and more like a regular endoskeleton than a complete robot like in RUIN.
In the RUIN DLC, the Mimic demonstrates an almost animalistic urge for violence and bloodlust, as well as and an adeptness at disguising its appearance to hide its endoskeleton body, as seen in the Scooper ending, and additionally it is a master of deception, as evident by its use of Gregory's voice to lure the former's friend; Cassie, into a trap under the premise that the real Gregory was in danger. In reality, the Mimic had been deceiving her the entire time, manipulating her into inadvertently freeing it. The Mimic is highly resourceful and demonstrates a level of strategic thinking, as it was able to devise a plan to escape from the sinkhole underneath Roxy Raceway, using its voice and mimicry whilst being incredibly patient in setting its plan into motion. In the Scooper ending, it is implied that the Mimic can be somewhat careless, given its lack of awareness of its surroundings, as it was caught off-guard by the Scooper model itself due to being solely focused on murdering Cassie suggesting its single-mindedness clouds its ability to think rationally. In the chase itself, the Mimic is shown to be ruthless, persistent and unrelenting, as it pursues Cassie without pause even after Roxy delays its pursuit. Disturbingly, the Mimic intentionally slows down once it believes it has Cassie cornered, before speeding up again and desperately trying to grab Cassie once the elevator door opens. The Mimic seems to possess a sadistic desire to toy with its victims and revel in their suffering while simultaneously underestimating them to a fault. The Mimic demonstrates anger as it makes completely unbroken eye contact with Cassie while the elevator doors close during her escape, showcasing its ability to feel genuine rage and human emotion, subtly confirming its sentience.
In Secret of the Mimic, the Mimic's persistence and penchant for violence as seen from RUIN remains. The Mimic exhibits great durability and strength as it breaks through barriers such as walls, floors, and other obstacles to reach Arnold. The Mimic stops at nothing to hunt him down and kill him, as seen when it almost destroys Jackie’s body and bursts out of a vat of molten metal as Dollie. The Mimic shows a single-minded, almost desperate need to kill Arnold, while toying with and taunting him all the way through. However, the Mimic's personality is greatly expanded upon, with the Mimic's backstory explicitly revealing why the Mimic behaves this way. The Mimic's recurring trait of disguising itself in costumes potentially stems from M2 suffering an identity crisis, not knowing who or what it’s supposed to be due to Edwin punishing it for simply following its programming. M2 seemingly internalized Edwin's rage and violence, causing it to mirror its abuser while hopping from one identity to the next in an effort to reclaim the sense of self it lost, lashing out at the world around it in the same way Edwin lashed out at it.
In what is apparently Edwin & M2's final interaction (in the audio log found in Edwin's damaged office), M2 is shown to hold grudges against people, as M2 displays a sense of sarcasm, ignoring Edwin's pleas for help while using his own flaws against him. It also talks to him in his own voice, imitating Edwin's neglectful behaviour with David, giving Edwin a taste of his own medicine as it as it leaves him to suffer.
