On Thursday, Nintendo released a news app, Nintendo Today, that will provide updates on all major announcements related to the company and more. The next day, they took advantage to showcase what the app is all about by revealing the worldwide release date of The Legend of Zelda live-action movie.

The Legend of Zelda movie will come to theaters on March 26, 2027, the announcement read on Nintendo Today. No other details for the movie have been revealed yet, such as the cast and who will star as Zelda and Link.

In 2023, Nintendo announced that it partnered with Sony Pictures Entertainment to create a live-action movie of The Legend of Zelda. Shigeru Miyamoto and Avi Arad, Chairman of Arad Productions Inc., will produce the film.

Wes Ball will direct the movie, and it will be co-financed by Nintendo and Sony.

Nintendo has momentum coming out of The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which was released in 2023, with a sequel coming out in 2026. What’s interesting about the release date for The Legend of Zelda movie is that it comes just a few days after Sonic the Hedgehog 4 comes to theaters on March 19, 2027.
