The Highly Anticipated Sequel To 'Practical Magic' Gets A Release Date - mxdwn Movies
The sequel is to be inspired by The Book of Magic, written by Practical Magic novelist Alice Hoffman. The novel, published in 2021, centers around Sally’s kids, who are now adults and having to deal with the tragic curse as Owens women. Akiva Goldsman, the original screenwriter behind the 1998 feature, is set to produce a script for this highly anticipated sequel. For the cast, Bullock and Kidman are the only confirmed ones now, as it is uncertain if there will be a recast for Sally’s daughters or if Evan Rachel Wood will make an appearance as Kylie Owens. Other possible returns that could happen are Stockard Channing (Grease) and Dianne Wiest (I Care a Lot), who portrayed the original narrators of the first novel and film as Aunt Frances and Aunt Jet, respectively. Sally’s love interest, Officer Gary Hallet, portrayed by Aidan Quinn, could also make an appearance.
It is unclear whether or not this sequel will touch on Hoffman’s other novels in her Practical Magic series, including The Rules of Magic and Magic Lessons, but it seems that information will come sooner rather than later with a release date already confirmed. The film Practical Magic is out to stream now on MAX.
