Thailand is set to submit a formal trade proposal to the United States this week in an effort to prevent the imposition of a 36% U.S. tariff on Thai exports.
Finance Minister Pichai Chunhavajira stated that the proposal aims to address the trade imbalance by enhancing market access for American goods, implementing robust anti-transshipment measures, and encouraging Thai investments that create U.S. jobs.
This move comes as a 90-day pause on President Donald Trump's reciprocal tariffs is set to expire in July.
Additionally, Thailand has announced a $4.8 billion economic stimulus package to counter economic stagnation, with growth projections just over 1% for the year.
