Kanpur: The Met department has issued an alert for residents as the mercury trend continues upwards, with no respite expected next week. It has advised that children, seniors, and older persons should not venture outdoors during the noon hours and should be kept inside shelters or sheds.On Sunday, the city recorded a three degree rise in temperature, touching 42.3 degrees Celsius with 57 percent maximum relative humidity. The residents reported feeling the temperature at around 45 degrees.Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) and SN Sunil Pandey, weather scientist at CSA University, have observed that the effects of the heat have started to be felt across the entire division, including north India, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Chhattisgarh.
Along with rising temperatures, humidity levels remain elevated.Weather experts have predicted that humidity will continue in the coming week due to the moisture in the atmosphere and no possibility of relief is expected till June 11. Strong and dusty winds with speeds up to 10 km per hour may be witnessed.Rainfall activity is expected to reduce drastically in the mountains of Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir. Tourists can visit the mountains until June 11 as there is almost no chance of any rain during this period. After June 12, rainy activity could recommence in the entire UP, including Kanpur division.
