TCS Launches New European Hubs for Software-Defined Vehicle Innovation

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), a global leader in IT services, consulting, and business solutions, has significantly expanded its capabilities in the rapidly evolving Software-Defined Vehicles (SDV) space. This strategic expansion includes the establishment of two new Automotive Delivery Centres in Germany – one in Munich and another in Villingen-Schwenningen – alongside an Engineering Centre in Romania. These new hubs are designed to accelerate TCS’ global automotive clients' transition to next-generation mobility solutions.
The delivery centers in Germany will play a crucial role in supporting automakers with the development and deployment of TCS’ software-driven services. These services encompass critical areas such as autonomous driving, advanced infotainment systems, robust safety features, and cutting-edge connected vehicle technologies. Concurrently, the engineering center in Romania will concentrate on the design and construction of advanced automotive software platforms, supporting early-stage development and fostering innovation within the sector.
This expansion is integral to TCS’ long-term strategy to bolster its end-to-end automotive software capabilities, spanning from 'chip-to-cloud' technologies and services. The strategic placement of these new centers in Europe facilitates close collaboration with leading European Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and other global automotive enterprises, providing invaluable nearshore capabilities. Currently, these centers house over 100 skilled professionals who will collaborate with more than 2,000 existing SDV Engineers across TCS’ global locations, forming a diverse and powerful talent pool.
This global talent network is poised to develop next-generation automotive platforms for various applications, including digital cockpits, advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), and other essential SDV functions. Their work will cover the entire product lifecycle, from initial concept and development through to production and comprehensive post-launch support. Regu Ayyaswamy, Senior Vice President & Global Head, Internet of Things (IoT) and Digital Engineering at TCS, emphasized that these new centers will position TCS at the forefront of automotive innovation, enabling the delivery of state-of-the-art solutions in autonomous driving and advanced cockpit systems, reaffirming TCS's commitment to leading the transformation in the SDV domain.
TCS’ expansion aligns perfectly with the global automotive industry's ongoing paradigm shift towards software-defined, connected, and autonomous mobility. As the demand for intelligent vehicle technologies continues to surge, TCS is strategically positioned to lead this profound transformation. Europe holds particular strategic significance for TCS’ automotive delivery hubs due to its robust automotive industry and the concentration of numerous leading automotive manufacturers in the region. TCS has a long-standing history of serving automotive customers in Europe for the past 25 years, maintaining a strong presence across various automotive hubs.
The organization has consistently delivered innovative solutions in critical areas such as digital cockpit development, electrification, autonomous vehicles, and connected car ecosystems. This is achieved through the integration of digital engineering, IoT, cloud computing, and advanced data analytics. Furthermore, TCS is leveraging Generative AI to accelerate product development by enabling faster feature generation and rigorous testing within SDVs, thereby promoting quicker innovation and enhanced personalization for users.
Anupam Singhal, President and Business Group Head, Manufacturing, TCS, articulated that the transition to software-defined vehicles represents a defining moment for the automotive industry. He highlighted that with the launch of these new centers, TCS is deepening its commitment to support OEMs in crafting the next generation of intelligent, connected, and sustainable vehicles. This expansion is viewed as a key milestone in TCS’ journey toward “Future-Ready Mobility,” where software, engineering, and design, significantly enhanced by AI, converge to deliver safer, more personalized, and continuously enriching experiences for both drivers and passengers.
TCS’ augmented presence in Europe further strengthens its position within the global automotive value chain. This is achieved by leveraging local talent and expertise, fostering even closer collaboration with clients, and ultimately enhancing customer satisfaction.
