The Labour Fund (Tamkeen) hosted a labor market workshop with the World Bank with the purpose of fostering the exchange of knowledge and expertise about labor market and workforce development. The workshop lasted for three
days and was attended by 55 professionals representing various government entities such as the Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of Finance and National Economy, Ministry of Labour, Ministry of Social Development, Ministry of Cabinet Affairs, Ministry of Industry and Commerce, Ministry of Sustainable Development, Information and eGovernment Authority, Bahrain Economic Development Board, Social Insurance Organization, Labour Market Regulatory Authority, and a delegation from the World Bank.
The workshop was widely attended by leaders and decision makers from different sectors and representatives of Team Bahrain and focused on the latest updates, trends, opportunities and challenges in the labor market. The workshop featured a number of training sessions, roundtable discussions and lectures that covered a wide range of topics such as training and upskilling, labor market policies, economic inclusion of women and more.
On this occasion, Ms. Alya Alaali, Chief Strategy & Data Analytics Officer at the Labour Fund (Tamkeen) welcomed the World Bank’s participation in this initiative, emphasizing the importance of exchanging knowledge with specialized international entities with the purpose of developing policies and programs with global standards to benefit the local market and Bahrain’s economy. She stated: “We appreciate the valuable contributions from representatives of Team Bahrain and the World Bank and experts from various sectors. Initiatives like this significantly enhance our understanding of the labor market and the ongoing changes within it, therefore informing decisions related to labor market support. This aligns with Tamkeen’s ongoing commitment to supporting Bahrain’s labor market”.

This joint inter- ministerial labor market workshop has served as an invaluable platform for exchanging insights on labor market trends, challenges, and policy solutions, and bringing together key stakeholders from across the government. With jobs now at the forefront of the World Bank’s development agenda, initiatives like this are both timely and crucial.”
