Though Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse seems on the right track based on recent news, one of the superhero threequel's stars offers a more uncertain take on the film's progress. Miles G. Morales actor Jharrel Jerome provides another frustrating update on the long-gestating animated blockbuster.
Speaking with Decider, Jerome was asked to offer a progress report on Beyond the Spider-Verse and whether he's started voice work on the anticipated project. Jerome relayed that on the third installment in the Spider-Verse film series, with. "No, I wish. We haven’t started up yet. A lot of things being figured out, but good things," he said.

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man head writer Jeff Trammell delves into its wide range of characters.
Jerome has an important part to play in Beyond the Spider-Verse after his Miles variant, also known as the Earth-42's Prowler, confronted the original Miles Morales (Shameik Moore) and Gwen Stacy/Spider-Woman (Hailee Steinfeld) at the end of Across the Spider-Verse. The upcoming threequel has been teasing a major confrontation between Miles and his more nefarious counterpart amid the Spot's (Jason Schwartzman) continued efforts to control the Multiverse.
Beyond the Spider-Verse has been hurt by several delays since Across the Spider-Verse premiered in 2023. Originally scheduled for release last March, Beyond the Spider-Verse was taken off Sony's release schedule, with co-writers and producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller insisting the movie will be out "when it's ready." Most questions about the movie's progress since have been met with frustrating answers for fans as other cast members said similar things to Jerome about not beginning voice work on the project. There were also reports that much of the work finished for the movie was scrapped due to a creative overhaul, though the film's composer rubbished such claims.

However, Across the Spider-Verse star and Spider-Man India actor Karan Soni offered more hope for Beyond the Spider-Verse, hinting that production was set to begin sometime this year. Last December, Sony confirmed the Beyond the Spider-Verse directors, with Into the Spider-Verse co-helmer Bob Persichetti working alongside Across the Spider-Verse's Justin K. Thompson. The upcoming film is also expected to see the return of Brian Tyree Henry as Miles' father Jeff, with the actor promising the darkest and most emotional movie in the Spider-Verse trilogy.
The first two Spider-Verse movies were critical and commercial successes. Into the Spider-Verse won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, while Across the Spider-Verse was nominated for the same category. The film will likely bring the Spider-Verse franchise to an end, though Moore and others haven't completely ruled out its continuation. The first two movies grossed $1.84 billion worldwide.
There is no release window confirmed yet for Beyond the Spider-Verse.
