Speculation around Trump receiving a gift from Qatar Royal Family

Reports indicate that President Trump is likely to accept a Boeing 747-8 jumbo jet from the Qatari royal family, potentially becoming his new Air Force One. This gift, described by ABC News as the 'most valuable gift' ever extended from a foreign government, has sparked controversy and debate.
The jet, previously dubbed a 'flying palace' for global royalty due to its opulent accommodations, features a bedroom suite, lounges, boardrooms, marble-clad bathrooms, and a grand staircase. It was reportedly parked at West Palm Beach International Airport in February, where Trump toured the plane. The aircraft has been retrofitted by US defense contractor L3Harris for Trump's use.
Critics and Democrats have reacted strongly, labeling the potential acceptance of the jet as 'bribery in broad daylight'. Concerns have been raised regarding the legality of accepting such a substantial gift from a foreign entity.
However, ABC News reported that lawyers from the White House counsel's office and the Department of Justice have analyzed the situation. Their analysis, drafted for Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, concluded that the Department of Defense could legally accept the aircraft as a gift and later transfer it to the Trump Presidential Library Foundation. This determination is based on the rationale that the arrangement does not violate bribery laws or the Constitution's emoluments clause, which prohibits US government officials from accepting gifts "from any King, Prince or foreign State."
The estimated value of the aircraft is approximately $400 million. The administration has apparently determined that accepting the jet does not constitute bribery because it would not be a direct gift to Donald Trump but rather to the United States Air Force and subsequently to the presidential library foundation.
