Sly Ezeokenwa, APGA national chairman
He spoke on ‘Morning Brief’, a Channels Television programme, on Wednesday.
Last month, Soludo Tinubu in Anambra for the inauguration of several projects.
Ezeokenwa, who was among the dignitaries, said at no point did Soludo endorse Tinubu’s re-election bid.
“It is wrong to say that the governor of Anambra has endorsed the president for a second term. I was present during the president’s visit to Anambra, and at no point did governor Soludo endorse the president for a second term in office,” he said.
“What the governor did was to simply call on the president as a member and leader of one of the progressive parties to see how we can make Nigeria work.
“And in making Nigeria work, Mr governor came up with a blueprint where you have the progressives, all the political parties that are progressively driven, to come together and partner towards a prosperous Nigeria.”
Ezeokenwa said Anambra is firmly aligned with APGA, adding that the state has been on the right trajectory since 2006.
He argued that there is no reason for Anambra to shift its political allegiance, given the progress achieved under APGA.
“Anambra is still very much with APGA and they have not seen any reason whatsoever to change the trajectory of the development they have witnessed since 2006 when APGA came into office till date,” he said.
Ezeokenwa added that the All Progressives Congress (APC) has no presence in Anambra.
He said APC does not have a single councillor, house of assembly member, house of representative member, or senator in the state.
“Sometimes we try to elevate these media rhetoric into realities on ground. They are far from reality. What you need to do is visit the streets of Anambra. APC does not exist anywhere in Anambra,” he said.
“They don’t even have one councillor, they don’t have a house of assembly member, no house of representative member, they don’t have a senator, no structure or whatever.
“The remnant of the structure that they had when late senator Ifeanyi Ubah was still alive emptied into APGA and the rest followed another aspirant into the YPP.”
