'Slow-moving system' to keep NYC area damp and rainy this week
Damp’s the word.
Cool, wet weather is expected to continue in the New York area over the next several days, before conditions dry out this weekend, according to the National Weather Service.
Meteorologist Bryan Ramsey said a “slow-moving system” will bring showers and isolated thunderstorms throughout Tuesday, with temperatures staying in the 60s.
Temperatures are normally in the high 60s to low 70s this time of year, he said.
While Tuesday evening should be drier, spotty showers will likely return Wednesday, especially north of New York City, according to the forecast.
The next big chance of rain will be late Thursday evening, Ramsey said.
“We kind of keep that wet pattern until Friday night, and then we finally dry out,” he said, adding that Friday could be one of this week’s coolest days.
Temperatures are expected to rise to around 70 this weekend.
Saturday and Sunday should be dry, sunny and warm, with clear skies and highs in the mid-70s forecast for Mother’s Day, the National Weather Service said.
