Veteran gospel singer Size 8 has turned to prayers after news emerged that a mask vendor was shot in the head by a police officer during protests.

The Pale Pale hitmaker, who was at home, took to her TikTok live to pray and asked Kenyans to join her in interceding for the country.

Since the death of teacher-turned-blogger Albert Ojwang, young Kenyans have been flooding the streets to demand justice.

While praying, Size 8 said:

"We are bringing Kenya before you, King of glory, we thank you that Kenya belongs to you. Have mercy upon us, Jehovah. Where else can we run but to you, Jesus. We pray for our nation, my father. May your mercy and grace allocate this country. Please help us. We have no one else but you, master. We cry to you, Lord."

She then urged Kenyans to continue praying for the nation to avert bloodshed and for peace to prevail.

A day ago, featured celebrities who blasted the police for shooting the mask vendor during the June 17 demonstrations.

They noted how the police had gone rogue and questioned what provoked the implicated officer to use his gun on a harmless person.

Filmmaker Abel Mutua questioned the confidence the cop had to commit such atrocities even when he knew the cameras were recording.

Netflix-featured Jacky Vike alias Awinja condemned the act and termed it a live execution, adding that the man had nothing to fight the police.

Comedian Flaqo also wondered if superior cops were shielding the police officers for them to commit such crimes in broad daylight.

In a different report, Nairobi Woman Rep Esther Passaris took to Facebook to condemn the shooting of the city hawker.

She called for the police to be given body cameras and psychosocial support to help them with their mental issues.

According to Passaris, the police training academy ought to be expanded and funded more to help produce better cops.

Her sentiments sparked mixed reactions, with some condemning her for defending Deputy Inspector General Eliud Lagat, whose name was mentioned in Ojwang's death.
