Shivaji Satam Comments on CID Makers Ending His ACP Pradyuman Track

Shivaji Satam, the actor who has embodied ACP Pradyuman in the long-running television series CID for an impressive 27 years, has recently addressed swirling rumors regarding the purported demise of his iconic character. These reports gained traction after an episode aired depicting ACP Pradyuman seemingly caught in a deadly explosion orchestrated by the criminal Barboza, played by Tigmanshu Dhulia.

In an interview with Bombay Times, Satam clarified that he remains in the dark about any permanent conclusion to his character's storyline. He stated, "I have no clue about this. I have taken a break for some time, and the makers know what lies ahead in the show. I have learnt to take everything in my stride, and if my track is over, I am okay with it. However, I have not been told whether my track is over or not! As of now, I am not shooting for the show." This statement suggests a temporary hiatus rather than a definitive exit.

Satam further elaborated that his break is partly due to planned travel with his son, who resides abroad. "I am planning to go on a holiday in May, because my son who lives abroad is coming to India. I have enjoyed playing ACP for 22 years in the earlier season. It has been a great journey. The show has given me a lot. As of now I am just taking a break and am going to enjoy my life. I have worked hard, and everyone deserves a break. Whether my track will be revived or not is something the makers know well," he explained.

The ambiguity surrounding ACP Pradyuman's fate intensified when Sony TV, the network airing CID, posted an image on Instagram seemingly confirming the character's death. The image, captioned "In the loving memory of ACP Pradyuman… A loss that will never be forgotten," featured a graphic that read: 'End of an era. ACP Pradyuman (1998-2025)'.

However, the lack of an on-screen death scene has fueled speculation among fans that ACP Pradyuman might somehow return. Satam's portrayal of the character has been a constant presence on Indian television for over two decades. CID, created by BP Singh and produced by Singh and Pradeep Uppoor, has been a staple of Sony TV since 1998, amassing nearly 1600 episodes and solidifying its place as one of India's most beloved TV shows.
