Sewing Bee's Annie creates beautiful summer skirt from bed sheets

Published 1 month ago2 minute read

Former Sewing Bee winner Annie Phillips is always impressing us with her upcycling projects from her recent embroidered cap to her collar blouse, and her latest summer skirt is another winner.

Having already made the matching top to her set, Annie created a gorgeous black and white polka dot maxi skirt from some bedding and the results are amazing.

Sharing the whole process on Instagram with her fans, she demonstrates how to cut the fabric, how to piece and sew them altogether, how to create the shirred effect on the waistband and even how to make the elasticated waist.

Annie wrote: "PART 2: Let’s make the matching SHIRRED SKIRT! You’ve nailed the top so now it’s time to give it a partner in style.

"This one’s got all the comfy, twirly, stretchy goodness you love… and yes, it’s way easier than it looks. Here’s a quick walk through, so grab your fabric (or a duvet!) and let’s get stitching!"

Impressing her followers with her dreamy summer co-ord, they were quick to compliment Annie on her latest fashion project.

Social media user @samiorenelda commented: "I love this set so much and the fact you made it makes it even better!

Feeling inspired @biancaffoley said: "Gorgeous, maybe this will be the one I actually try."

"So creative. Love this!" Added @sarah_pedro89.

Annie shows just how easy and inexpensive it is to upcycle old fabric into a fashion masterpiece with just the use of a sewing machine.
