This weekend across North Texas, it will be cooler than earlier in the week, with rain chances lingering

CBS News Texas meteorologists issued a First Alert Weather Day for Saturday due to the severe storm chances as well as a cold front that will drop temperatures by as much as 30 degrees from the day before.

Several weather warnings were in place early Saturday morning, prompting a ground stop at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.

Outdoor warning sirens were heard going off in the Crowley area, in northern Johnson County, around 5:45 a.m. The outdoor warning sirens went off due to the strong wind. Wind gusts on Saturday were a little bit stronger than originally forecast, Chief Meteorologist Scott Padgett said.

The early morning storms quickly moved east. Hail was reported in southern portions of the DFW Metroplex, including Mansfield, Maypearl, Cleburne and Arlington.

Southbound lanes of I-35E in Waxahachie were shut down Saturday morning due to multiple 18-wheelers overturned after the storms passed through.

Wind reports from Ellis County came in at up to 97 mph. The wall of a grocery store in Ennis was blown off during the storms.

"It got dark last night, it was horrible, it was bad," a Waxahachie resident told CBS News Texas.

After the storms, clouds and cold rain will linger. Don't expect rain all day long. Low temperatures Saturday night will dip into the low to mid 30s for some parts of North Texas.

Saturday's high temperature will reach the low 50s.
