Brooks is the founder of ScholarCHIPS, Inc., a nonprofit that provides college scholarships, mentoring, and support to children of incarcerated parents. Since its launch in 2010, the organization has awarded over $600,000 in scholarships to over 100 scholars across the country, and earned Brooks recognition as a CNN Hero in 2023.
Journalists and members of the public are invited to attend, as Brooks discusses her journey as a child of an incarcerated parent, her impact-driven work, and the urgency of investing in the next generation. The event will also include a Q&A session and book signing.
