Samidoh Claps Back at Fan Questioning How He Became Cop Amid Brutality Uproar
Popular Mugithi singer and police officer Samidoh, real name Samuel Muchoki, has once again stirred conversation online, this time by firing back at a fan who questioned his decision to join the police service.

The interaction unfolded after Samidoh replied to a post by fellow singer Ngaruiya, who was under fire for remarks about the shooting of Boniface Kariuki, a hawker who was gunned down by a police officer during protests.
Samidoh’s reply to Ngaruiya was light-hearted, but it was a cheeky exchange in the comment section that stole the spotlight.
One fan, referencing the national uproar over rising cases of police brutality, bluntly asked Samidoh why he ever chose to become a cop.
Never one to shy away, the singer fired back with a sarcastic yet confident tone:
“I qualified. Then there is this hard part of running 10 km, wanna join?”
The comment, laced with humour, immediately attracted praise from fans who commended him for defending his profession in the face of mounting criticism.
Despite being part of the police service, Samidoh has shown signs of siding with the public amid growing outrage over extrajudicial killings.
When influencer Albert Ojwang was found dead in police custody, Samidoh posted a photo of himself next to a portrait of George Floyd, widely interpreted as a nod to ongoing struggles against police brutality.
Days later, following the shooting of the city hawker, the singer again took to social media with a subtle yet powerful statement.
He posted a photo of himself wearing a facemask, similar to what Boniface was reportedly selling during the protests when he was gunned down, captioned with a quote on justice and unity.
Many interpreted this as another silent protest in solidarity with victims of police violence.
However, Samidoh’s social media activity has not gone unnoticed by those in authority. He has recently faced disciplinary issues within the service.
An arrest warrant was recently issued against him after he was declared a deserter for overstaying his leave.
This came after he was redeployed to Gilgil, reportedly for being caught chanting slogans associated with the anti-government leaders, a violation of the expected neutrality of police officers.
However, while in the US, the singer seems to be distancing himself from the chaos at home, instead choosing to focus on bonding with his family.

Here are some comments from netizens to his witty response:
"Interview ni meno, mbio, height na kutoa shirt."
"Alienda Kwa kiwanja akaangaliwa meno na akaonyeshana certificate ya Shule. Kisha wakaambiwa wakimbie. Akakimbia akawa Kati ya walioshinda. Akapewa barua ya Siku ya kuliport. Siku ya kuliport akaingilia Kwa gate. Sasa yeye ni Askari."
"He went to the field n It was God's favour upon him akimbia bila shirt."
"So it's humor again 🤔🤔🤔we r too tired to think straight we see it as it is."
"He should've been a preacher. A good one yap!"
"Shida si askari, the problem is the process. Mtu alisoma 14years from primary to secondary and attained a D- ..you take the same guy to kiganjo with the same head and old for 6months and then want us to believe the same head imechange to add salt you give the same head a gun...surely......woooiiii, disaster, sijasema Samidoh lakini."

In related news, former peputy president Rigathi Gachagua advised Samidoh to quit the police service.
He said the singer's growing music career no longer fits the demands of being a cop.
He encouraged him to remain in the US and revealed plans to meet him during the Ngemi Festival in July, where Samidoh is set to perform.
