Salesforce CEO Shares Video of Affordable Robot

Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff recently ignited a flurry of discussion on social media platform X by showcasing a video of a robot he asserts is more budget-friendly than a MacBook. Benioff highlighted the robot's diverse skill set in the video, remarking, "DeepSeek is AI that costs pennies. Unitree is robots that cost less than a MacBook."
The robot, developed by Chinese robotics firm Unitree and playfully dubbed the "kung fu bot," has been characterized by the South China Morning Post as an "acrobatic humanoid." Benioff went on to proclaim, "DeepSeek + Unitree G1 = the future of cheap, scalable digital labor. It’s not science fiction anymore."
The post subsequently garnered a range of reactions across social media. A segment of users voiced apprehensions regarding these technological advancements, particularly concerning their possible ramifications for the employment landscape. One user inquired, "Sooo what does the human labor force do in turn??" Another commented, "It's all coming true. Upgrade yourself or be left out."
Conversely, other individuals adopted a more optimistic perspective. One user enthused, "AI that costs pennies. Robots cheaper than a MacBook. We’re not heading into the future...we’re sprinting into it."
Adding to the discourse, Arundhati Bhattacharya, the President and CEO of Salesforce (South Asia), recently emphasized the necessity for individuals to reskill in response to the evolving nature of jobs due to the rise of artificial intelligence (AI). Bhattacharya stated, "There is a need to lean into the change and not resist," further suggesting that a collaborative synergy between humans and AI could lead to amplified efficiency and productivity.
