Reports had emerged on social media alleging that Buke had been abducted on Thursday, February 6, by unknown people.

According to the reports, Buke was last seen at Acacia Hotel, located on the outskirts of Isiolo town, before he was picked up under unclear circumstances.

However, in a statement on Friday, February 7, NPS spokesperson Muchiri Nyaga dismissed the report that Buke was abducted.

Nyaga disclosed that Buke was arrested over his links to the Oromo Liberation Army (OLA) that operates both in Isiolo and Marsabiy counties.

"We wish to clarify that Sadam Buke is in lawful custody alongside others. He is suspected of being a key facilitator and coordinator of Oromo Liberation Army (OLA) in both Isiolo and Marsabit counties," Nyaga said.

Nyaga explained that Buke was arrested during the ongoing Operation Ondoa Jangili and will be arraigned in court as per the law.

"He was arrested during the ongoing mounted Operation Ondoa Jangili being conducted in both Isiolo and Marsabit counties. He and others are expected to be arraigned in court. We reiterate our commitment to comply with constitutional standards of human rights and fundamental freedoms," he stated.

In other news, activist Bob Njagi provided a detailed and dramatic account of the disappearance of Wajir MCA Yussuf Hussein Ahmed, who has been missing for nearly five months.

According to Njagi, on the night of September 13, Ahmed was brought to the same detention facility where Njagi himself was being held by abductors.

He claimed to have peered through a keyhole and seen a man of Somali origin.

Njagi further alleged that by the time he was released, the Wajir MCA was still in the facility.

Following his release, he conducted his investigation, which led him to believe that the man who was in the neighbouring room was indeed the missing county lawmaker.

A month after his disappearance, a body believed to be Ahmed’s was retrieved from Lake Yahud.

Family members and locals rushed to the mortuary to identify the remains, which had been badly tortured and decomposed.

However, two independent DNA tests later confirmed that the body was not that of the missing MCA.

Nearly five months later, authorities continue to investigate his whereabouts as his family holds onto hope for answers.
