Following their 1-1 draw with Nigeria, Russia's head coach Valery Karpin has rated the Super Eagles as a stronger side than Zambia, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Earlier in the week, Russia had thrashed Zambia 5-0 in a friendly, setting high expectations ahead of their clash with Nigeria.
However, despite that emphatic victory, the Russians were held to a draw by the three-time African champions.
Speaking after the match, Karpin said: "They are all very athletic, powerful, strong teams. But Cameroon and Nigeria are clearly a level above Zambia and Kenya — even the FIFA rankings confirm this. You can't compare them. Nigeria and Cameroon are much more interesting teams."
His remarks underscore the growing respect for Nigeria’s quality on the international stage.
