, the son of Tejano legend  and nephew of the late, great , has officially launched his solo career with the release of his highly anticipated debut EP, Rodrigo. Known for his Latin Grammy-nominated work alongside his sister , Rigo now takes center stage with a project that is as personal as it is musically ambitious.

The EP, aptly titled Rodrigo—his full first name—marks a defining moment in the young artist’s career as he steps into his own spotlight. In an interview with , Rigo shared his excitement: “I’m starting my own career. I’m starting my own EP and it’s entitled Rodrigo. That’s my full name.”

Born and raised on the south side of San Antonio, Texas, and a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, Rigo’s journey has been shaped by his deep roots in Tejano music and the rich cultural experiences that have expanded his musical lens. His time living in Monterrey, Mexico, was especially transformative. “Over there I got to learn about the culture. I got to learn about the tradition and it was just so mind-opening to me,” he explained. “It opened my mind to different kinds of music, different kinds of genres and I just wanted to do it all.”

That expansive vision is exactly what shines through in Rodrigo, a five-track EP that blends Tejano and Latin flavors into one cohesive narrative. “The EP is a little mix of everything and it tells my life,” Rigo said. “I like to say it tells the story of my life and what I like… my music is like Tex-Mex—like Texas’ melting pot of music, a melting pot of artists and genres.”

Each track on Rodrigo was crafted with intention and intimacy. “These five original songs mean a lot to me—they were written alongside family and close friends,” Rigo shared on social media. He credits  and Manuel Herrera Maldonado for their contributions, as well as the team at UNIMUSIK for believing in his vision.

Above all, Rigo is grateful for the support of his family. “This EP marks the beginning of my solo journey, and I couldn’t have taken this step without the love and encouragement of my family,” he said. “Thank you to my dad, Raul Navaira, my sisters Destiny and Lauren Navaira, and my mom, Josie, for always pushing me to chase my dreams and give my all to this music.”

With Rodrigo, Rigo Navaira offers more than just a debut—he offers a heartfelt introduction to who he is as an artist and a person. It’s a bold, honest, and genre-defying collection that sets the stage for an exciting solo career.

Rodrigo is available now on all digital music platforms.
