According to documents seen by , preparations for the launch are in high gear, with the party booking the indoor arena from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm for what is expected to be a full day of political festivities.
The DCP, associated with former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua, has positioned the event as a platform to introduce its vision, unveil its manifesto, and roll out its policy agenda.
In a formal letter dated May 20, and addressed to the management of the Kasarani Stadium Complex, DCP Secretary General Hezron Obaga confirmed that the venue would host approximately 5,000 attendees.
"The event is expected to host approximately 5,000 attendees, including party members, supporters, invited guests, and members of the press. We plan to use the facility for speeches, performances and interactive sessions aimed at unveiling our vision, manifesto, leadership to the Kenyan public," the letter read.
A proforma invoice issued by Sports Kenya on May 21 detailed the cost of hosting the event at KSh 3,706,800.
The charges cover various items such as hire of the indoor arena, catering levies, and exclusive branding.
The party will also pay for access to VIP suites, live event coverage and activation, as well as cleaning services, kitchenette access, and exhibition space.
Earlier, covered the DCP’s initial unveiling in Lavington on May 15, which descended into chaos.
The atmosphere quickly soured when a group of unidentified individuals, believed to be hired goons, stormed the venue.
The intrusion triggered scenes of shouting and scuffles, forcing attendees and officials to seek cover.
A man suspected to be part of Gachagua’s security detail was seen firing warning shots into the air to restore order.
Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen condemned the incident, accusing the organisers of failing to alert police in advance. He suggested that the violence may have stemmed from frustrations over unfulfilled promises of handouts.
This was the fourth such disruption at a Gachagua-led event since December 2024.
