The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has called on investors to channel support into Ghana’s energy sector, describing it as pivotal to the success of the government’s proposed 24-hour economy.

He noted that without a reliable power supply, the ambition of sustaining round-the-clock productivity would face significant hurdles.

The Asantehene made this appeal during a meeting with officials from Dream Power Africa, a solar energy firm, on Wednesday, 21 May, at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.

He commended the company’s interest in renewable energy and underscored the need for strategic investment in electricity, particularly in underserved areas.

“Currently, the government has been talking about a 24-hour economy. If that is going to be successful, then energy must also be available in rural areas, and industries will need it to function efficiently,” he stated.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II added that expanding access to energy would not only facilitate economic activity but also contribute meaningfully to national growth.

He stressed the importance of inclusive energy distribution, highlighting that rural communities must not be left behind.

“So, from a wider perspective, it will all help in the development of this country,” the Asantehene remarked, urging continued collaboration between the private sector and the government to achieve lasting progress in Ghana’s energy infrastructure.
