The University of Redlands women's basketball team (9-6, 4-2) had their six-game winning streak snapped by Whittier College, 75-61, in Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) action Saturday afternoon inside Currier Gym.

Whittier got off to a fast start, leading 13-3 after five minutes with the only Redlands points coming off an AJ Wick free throw and a Colbi Zorich jumper.

Trailing by eight in the final two minutes the Bulldogs defense allowed only two points and Andrea Perkins found Zorich ahead of her for a fastbreak layup that put them down only two possessions, 18-12, after the opening 10 minutes.

It was a great first four plus minutes in the second despite conceding a three on the first possession. They got four points from Zorich and a three from Perkins off a Leila Hosn assist. The three made it a four-point deficit, 23-19, with 5:42 on the clock.

Over the next five minutes, though, the Poets scored 13 of the 16 points and held their largest lead of the half at 13, 35-22. Audrey Meek, however, was found by Alex Facelo behind the arc with only 25 seconds remaining as she cut the deficit to 10 at the half.

The beginning seven minutes of the third saw the Bulldogs only score 11 points as they were down 14, 50-36, with 2:34 to play. Zorich, Hosn, and Facelo would change the pace with seven combined points over the next two minutes as they were within nine.

Again, down double figures early in the fourth, it became the Wick show as she scored eight points and the Bulldogs were within six, 66-60, with only 2:31 remaining.

The Zorich layup that made it a six-point game would be the final made field goal for Redlands as they ultimately lost by 14.

Facelo finished with a team-high 17 points thanks to five made threes. Zorich and Wick were the other two in double figures wit h16 and 13 points each. Wick grabbed 15 rebounds for her ninth double-double and her 13th double-digit rebounding game in 15 total contests this season.

Redlands heads to Claremont on Monday for a 7:00 p.m. tip-off at Pomona-Pitzer.
