Released in 1996, From Dusk Till Dawn was directed by Robert Rodriguez from a script written by Quentin Tarantino that was itself based on a story by Robert Kurtzman. The film starred George Clooney as infamous bank robber Seth Gecko, the brother of Tarantino's Richie Gecko. When the pair end up on the run from the law, they decide to make their way to the fabled Titty Twister strip club, from where they can be smuggled across the border into Mexico. After kidnapping Harvey Keitel's Jacob Fuller and his children Kate and Scott, portrayed by Juliette Lewis and Ernest Liu, the five successfully make their way to the Titty Twister, only to find themselves staring down angry bikers and hungry vampires alike.

Among the horrors on display following the film's decidedly drastic tonal shift are the beautiful yet monstrous Santanico Pandemonium, played by Salma Hayek, who is among the first of dozens of vampires to reveal themselves to their human victims. From Dusk Till Dawn also features appearances by horror legend Tom Savini, stoner-comedy icon Cheech Marin, and the one and only Danny Trejo. Despite arriving in theaters to mostly middling reviews, From Dusk Till Dawn quickly established itself as a modern cult classic, giving rise to sequels, prequels, and spinoffs alike.

In 1999, a direct-to-video sequel was released in the form of From Dusk Till Dawn 2: Texas Blood Money, which picks up shortly after the events of the first film. That same year, From Dusk Till Dawn 3: The Hangman's Daughter was also released, this time serving as a prequel to the original. Unfortunately, both of these films were met with overtly negative reviews from critics and audiences alike. It wasn't until the release of From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series in 2014 that the franchise hit its stride again, this time with a complete reboot of the original story that dove deeper into its overarching lore than any entry before it. From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series ran for a total of 30 episodes across 3 seasons, leaving things off at an unexpectedly hopeful end to the story.

From Dusk Till Dawn will be available for streaming on Prime Video beginning March 13.
