I purchased an iPhone 16 Pro from John Lewis. The offer said I would get 3 months free Apple TV Access. I checked how to redeem this and it said to do this through the app on my new phone. It is charging me for access as I have been a previous subscriber. Why is this not clear in the offe? Very very misleading.

The terms state that the offer is for new Apple TV+ subscribers. If you have used the trial previously, you do not get to use another one. Every offer for Apple TV+ that I have seen shows the terms on the bottom of the page where a subscript number or asterisk refers you to those terms. The same is true for Apple Music, Apple News, Apple Arcade, and any free trial subscription in the App Store.

The same is true for other companies as well. If you look at YouTube TV, you will see that it offers a 21 day free trial, but once you read the terms you will find out that it only applies if you have never had a subscription to the service.

Surely it would be more honest and transparent to include “new subscribers only” in the offer. Unless there is an intention to deceive. Transparency and honesty is surely important to brand reputation.
