PSC Warns Police Commissioners Against Abuse Of Tactical Units

Published 1 week ago2 minute read

The Police Service Commission (PSC), has warned that tactical units should not be allowed to supplant recognised Police departments, especially at the state command headquarters.

The commission noted that many state commissioners have abused these  tactical units and had rendered recognised police departments redundant even when they are headed by deputy commissioners of police.

Spokesperson of the PSC, Ikechukwu Ani said the commission had, while interviewing the nine commissioners recommended by the inspector general of police for appointment and posting to state commands, warned them to  allow the recognised departments to function.

The chairman of the PSC, DIG Hashimu Argungu (rtd) urged the commissioners to ensure that tactical units are not abused at the state commands and not used to do the work meant for recognised departments.
