The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is a global service provider in the field of international cooperation for sustainable development and international education. Operating on behalf of the German Government and other partners, GIZ supports international efforts to improve living conditions, promote peace, and foster sustainable economic and social development.
Since 2004, GIZ has served as a committed and trusted partner to the African Union (AU), supporting its efforts to achieve inclusive growth and sustainable development across the continent in line with Agenda 2063: “The Africa We Want.” Through this longstanding cooperation, GIZ works with the AU Commission, its specialized institutions such as AUDA-NEPAD, and various regional and national stakeholders in over 35 AU Member States.
To coordinate and support these complex, multi-country initiatives, GIZ has established the GIZ African Union Office, located in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, which serves as the central Service Unit for the GIZ-AU portfolio. The Service Unit provides essential cross-cutting support in the areas of procurement, finance, human resources, travel and event management, internal operations, communications, and portfolio management to all GIZ programmes implemented in cooperation with the AU.
The GIZ portfolio with AUDA-NEPAD in South Africa is bundled in the GIZ AU Cluster which is supported by an admin & finance team located in Hatfield, Pretoria. It plays a vital role in delivering administrative and logistical support, ensuring coordination between regional teams and the GIZ AU office in Addis Ababa, and facilitating smooth operations across Africa. As part of this support structure, the Project Administrator will contribute significantly to the day-to-day operations of the admin and finance team and the AU Cluster’s projects
