A  South West chieftain of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP),  Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, on Friday, asked the federal government to probe the Joint Admission And Matriculation Board, (JAMB) over the  controversial handling of this year’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

Ajadi in a statement accused JAMB management of alleged shoddy handling of the 2025 UTME which led to the recent embarrassing controversy, adding that anyone found culpable should be punished.

The NNPP chieftain maintained that the excuse by the JAMB Registrar and his apology cannot save those who have died and millions of students whose future is being destroyed.

“The recent admission of errors by JAMB in the conduct of this year’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) is an embarrassment to the nation. JAMB has, through its inefficiency, caused sorrow to families who lost their loved ones as a result of frustration in the recent conduct of exam,” he said.

While sympathising with the families who lost their loved ones and millions of children whose future may have been adversely affected, the ambassador called for a decentraliseation of the matriculation examination in the country noting that “JAMB is overburdened.”
